In order to increase the security of users when accessing Chrome on Android devices, the Google research team is reportedly preparing for a major update.
In an effort to achieve this, Google launched the Chrome 70 beta application for the operating system (operating system, OS) Android, macOS, Linux, Chrome OS, and Windows. Reported by Phonearena, Sunday (09/16/2018), Chrome 70 beta adopts fingerprint sensor technology which will later be used to access various services on the device. Not only has the ability to recognize fingerprints, the Android version of Chrome will have the ability to identify shape identification.
Google said, the technology relies on three types of API (application programming interface) to detect face shapes, barcodes, and text in images in cyberspace. Another interesting thing that Google does is to start Chrome 70 version, the browser will no longer include the build number of Android and iOS devices. Google has made this change to prevent exploitation of security vulnerabilities to theft of users’ personal data through the Chrome application.
Google Chrome made its debut in 2008. Initially, Chrome was marketed as a new browser and debuted with web comics from Google to mark the company’s first browser. As quoted by The Verge, Monday (3/9/2018), initially Chrome was launched as a beta application for Windows, then Chrome came on Linux and MacOS in 2009. Chrome debuted at the right time, when developers and internet users began to get bored with Internet Explorer and Firefox. To bring Chrome, Google uses Apple WebKit rendering components and Mozilla Firefox. Then the company makes all of Chrome’s source code to be accessible to the public as a Chromium project. One significant part when Chrome was first released was the idea of “sandboxing”. This feature allows for a Chrome browser tab to crash, not impacting the entire browser. In addition, this anticrash also increases Chrome’s speed and stability in general. Now after a decade, Chrome dominates almost all internet users. Chrome controls 60 percent of the market share on the desktop.
